Co-Lin rallies late to earn split with Delgado

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Co-Lin plated six runs in the final three innings in game two on Saturday to secure a 7-6 win over the Delgado Dolphins. The win moved the Wolves to 7-2 on the year.

Delgado came out firing in game two with three runs in the bottom of the first. The Dolphins took advantage of two early walks and a double and drove in all three runs with back-to-back singles. Another RBI single in the bottom of the second stretched the Dolphins lead to 4-0.

Co-Lin scratched one across in the third after Craig Bradley led the Wolves off with a double. Chandler Dillard moved Bradley over with a bunt and Ryan Zimmerman grounded out but scored the freshman. Co-Lin trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the third.

The Wolves knotted the game at four apiece in the fifth after Austin Tidwell and Bradley reached base with singles. Dillard cleared the bases with a triple to right field and brought the Wolves within one. Zimmerman once again pushed the run across with a groundout that scored Dillard.

An RBI single from the Dolphins gave Delgado a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth, but it was short-lived as Co-Lin's Tyler Vroman scored Austin O'Flynn, who led off with a single, in the top of the sixth. Tidwell laid down a sacrifice bunt and scored Zach Pope, who reached on an error, to give the Wolves a 6-5 lead.

The Dolphins stuck around with yet another RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at six all. The Wolves took the lead for good in the top of the seventh with an RBI single from Jaylyn Williams that plated CJ Estave who reached on a single.

Zach James got the win for Co-Lin on the mound. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out one and walking zero. Justin Hutton, Parker Lee, and Josh Stephens all put in work on the pitcher's mound in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Dwain Varisco took the loss for Delgado as he allowed two hits and one run over one inning, striking out one and walking zero.

Co-Lin batters saw the ball well, racking up eight hits in the game. Dillard and Bradley each collected multiple hits for the Wolves.
