Hinds defeats Co-Lin 10-8

WESSON – The Hinds Eagles defeated the Co-Lin Wolves 10-8 in a non-conference game tonight.

The 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Tom Biggs (Columbia, LA/West Monroe High School) drew a two-out walk, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch.

Hinds would take a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Colby Collier drew a bases loaded four-pitch walk to tie the game. Matt Corder's ground ball fielder's choice allowed Chase DeJean to score.

The Eagles would increase their lead to 4-1 in the third on a two-run home run by Caleb Sterling.

In the top of the fifth, Tyree Carr's RBI single would score Vantrel Reed who reached on a Co-Lin error putting Hinds up 5-1.

The Wolves would respond in the bottom of the fifth with three runs. Will-Lawson Harkins (Carthage/Leake Academy) would score on a passed ball. Kenner Bizot's (Wesson/Wesson High School) two-RBI single to center plated Peyton Parker (West Monroe, LA/West Ouachita High School) and Marquez Hudson (Monticello/Lawrence County High School) and closed the Hinds lead to 5-4.

Co-Lin would regain the lead at 7-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh. Parker reached on an error by the third baseman. Biggs singled and Hudson walked to load the bases. Bizot would be hit by the pitch plating Parker. With one out and the bases loaded, Ben White (Natchez/Cathedral High School) singled to left as Biggs and Hudson scored.

The Eagles answered with five runs in the top of the eighth courtesy of a Co-Lin error, three straight walks, a single and a double.

Co-Lin rallied for a run in the bottom of the eighth on a Biggs ground ball.

Leading the Wolves at the plate was Bizot who had a single and three RBIs. Biggs (1 RBI), White (2 RBIs) and Noah Freeman (Mendenhall/Simpson Academy) added support with a single apiece.

At the plate for Hinds, Sterling had a pair of hits. Adding support with a hit apiece were Corder, Connor Carter, Pablo Lanzarote, Tyree Carr, Chase DeJesus, Gentry Tigrett and Collier.

The Eagles used seven pitchers in the game including Clark Presley, Austin Fuglar, Kendrick Bershel, Matthew Taylor, Walker Ladner, Noah Magee and Corder.

Co-Lin used 13 pitchers in the game including Jacob Spinks, Miach Parker, Hunter Reinike, Rhett Blackburn, Sevante Quinn, Aiden Singley, Tanner Watts, Caleb Rutledge, Tucker Jones, Peyto Parker, Lance Elsen, Lane Hannah and Shaw King.
