Wolves set to take on No. 5 Northwest in Stone Stadium

WESSON, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves, coming off a huge 49-0 win over Pearl River Community College, play host to the No. 5 Northwest Community College Rangers this Thursday, September 20 at 7 p.m. for the first time since 2013. Co-Lin won the last matchup 48-24. The Wolves (2-1, 1-0) look to keep the offensive momentum rolling from last week that saw seven touchdowns and no punts while slowing down the Rangers (3-0, 1-0) high flying offensive attack that averages 39.5 points per game. The No. 5 Rangers enter Thursday's game off a 59-16 win over Mississippi Delta. Fans are asked to wear white to the contest for Co-Lin's annual White Out game. For those that can not make it to the game, they can watch the action live at www.colinathletics.com or listen live at WMJU 104.3 FM in Brookhaven.

Co-Lin's offense was nearly flawless a week ago as the Wolves racked up 419 yards with no punts and only one turnover. The impressive performance bumped the Wolves up to No. 7 in the MACJC in yards per game with 330.0. A lot of that yardage has come from the passing game as Co-Lin continues to get the ball into the hands of the Wolves' talented wide receiver corps. The Wolves currently have 644 passing yards on the year, which is third in the league behind Northwest and East Mississippi.

Hayden Davis leads the Wolves with 44 completions on 71 attempts for 644 yards, while Deion Dampier has posted 156 yards on the ground with two scores. Co-Lin has several leaders at wide receiver in Jalen Browder, DeMartre Collins, Malik Heath, Antoine Robinson, and Kundarrius Taylor.

Defensively, the Wolves have dominated. Co-Lin is tied for best in the MACJC giving up an average of just 11.7 points per game. The Wolves have forced five turnovers and have recorded eight sacks while holding opponents to an average of 119 passing yards a game. Swayze Bozeman leads Co-Lin with 27 tackles, while Taijh Alston has 21.

Northwest averages 499.3 yards per game on the offensive end and has held opponents to 250 total yards per game, including just 74.3 yards per game on the ground.

Like Co-Lin, Northwest has run a two-quarterback system with Robert Wilcke and Jacob Free. The pair has combined for 932 passing yards and six touchdowns. Look for Jaxton Carson and Chris Calvert to lead the Rangers on the ground. Braden Smith leads Northwest's receivers with three touchdowns on 14 catches and 192 yards. Defensively, Jerrick Reed II leads the Rangers with 22 tackles, while Taures Payne leads the team with two sacks.

Tickets to Thursday's game are $10 dollars for adults and $5 for any non Co-Lin student and are only available at the gate. The first 100 in-district high school seniors that use their All-Sports Student Athletic Pass will also receive a free white Co-Lin t-shirt.  Fans can follow @colinathletics on Twitter or visit colinathletics.com for updates throughout the games and for information throughout the season.
