Lofton named special teams player of the week

JACKSON, Miss. - Co-Lin's Bryce Lofton has been tabbed as the inaugural Mississippi Association of Community College Conference (MACCC) special teams Player of the Week after his week one performance against Southwest.

"Being named MACCC Player of the Week is such an honor," said Lofton. "I put in a lot of hard work over the break, and I'm glad to see it start paying off."

The sophomore kicker and punter from Sandhill, Miss. was stellar in the contest has he knocked in a career-long 46-yarder on the Wolves' opening possession of 2020. Later in the game, he hit a 36-yard field goal and was five-for-five on extra-point attempts.

"That first field goal was a great way to kickstart the season for sure," Lofton said. "But I still have a lot to prove to be a top specialist in junior college football."

Along with his placekicking duties, Lofton handled all of Co-Lin's punting and kickoffs. He averaged 32.5 yards on his two punts with one ending inside the 20-yard line.

Overall, the sophomore could not have asked for a better start to the 2020 season.
