Eighteen Wolves Earn Postseason Honors

JACKSON – The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) released the members of the North and South All-MACCC honorees on Monday, November 27. Co-Lin football has 18 members named to the All-MACCC South Teams.

The Wolves have five members who earned First Team honors in running back Johnnie Daniels (Crystal Springs), defensive lineman Billy Pullen (Kaufman, Texas), wide receiver Jaylen Smith (Jacksonville, Florida), defensive back Navarion Benson (Crystal Springs), and offensive lineman Zane Hooper (Denham Springs, Louisiana).

Eight members of the Wolves earned Second Team honors in quarterback DeVon Tott (Mandeville, Louisiana), wide receiver Carlos Martin (Laurel), tight end Tyler Fortenberry (Brookhaven), kicker Brandon Gilliam (Vicksburg), returner Zyrian Jackson (Hazlehurst), linebacker Dedric Hicks (Laurel), and defensive lineman Kevontay Wells (Jackson) and Montra Edwards (Lexington).

The Wolves also had six Honorable Mention honorees with defensive backs Kaden Dukes (Petal), Jahron Manning (New Orleans, Louisiana), and Christopher Burnett (Yazoo City) along with linebacker Collin McGowan (Wesson) taking home honors while the aforementioned Jaylen Smith made the list for a second time as a returner.

The 2023 season saw the Wolves finish as MACCC South Division Champions and make a run all the way to the MACCC Championship game, ultimately falling to the East Mississippi Lions, 27-20. The team sits at 9-2 overall and will have play in the CHAMPS Heart of Texas Bowl against Navarro College on Saturday, December 2, in Commerce, Texas. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
