Bio

Maurice Johnson, a Magee native, is in his seventh year as an assistant coach at Co-Lin. This is Johnson’s second stint on the coaching staff as he coached the Co-Lin linebackers in 2013. Johnson was a stand-out linebacker for Co-Lin in 1995 where he earned NJCAA All-American honors for his efforts on the gridiron. 

After his time at Co-Lin, he attended Florida A&M University where he helped lead the Rattlers to a NCAA I-AA national championship bid. After earning his degree in criminal justice from Florida A&M, Johnson made several coaching stops before returning to Co-Lin including stints at Benedict College, North Carolina A&T, his alma mater Florida A&M University, Miles College, Edwards Waters College, East Mississippi Community College, Jackson State University, and most recently Mississippi Delta. Johnson and his wife Verneka, have two sons, Austin and Lajavian.
