WESSON, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves fell to Jones College on Thursday night, 88-83, after a late effort came up just short. "I'm proud of our guys, we should have been playing hard for a longer period of time, but I'm proud we hung in there enough to at least make a run at the end," said coach Kenny Bizot. "They are a good basketball team and that's just how it's going to be with these next few. We still need to understand what it takes to play at this level and that is just an unbelievable desire to compete, and I don't see us having that every night right now."

Co-Lin controlled the game and tempo early as the Wolves took a seven-point, 16-9, lead after just five minutes of play. The Bobcats responded in a big way with a 26-4 run that lasted seven minutes. The offensive explosion from Jones pulled the Bobcats in front, 37-20. The Wolves tried to chip their way back into the game throughout the remainder of the first half, and cut the lead to just six, 42-36, with just 1:03 remaining in the opening 20 minutes. The Bobcats took a nine-point, 45-36 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Wolves refused to give in as the team continued to battle despite the large deficit. With just 3:41 remaining Co-Lin trailed by 18, the largest Jones' lead of the game. The Wolves then burst into action on the offensive end of the floor with a 13-2 run fueled by Je'Kevious Williams and three, three-pointers from Miles Daniels. The run cut the lead to just seven, 84-77. After a pair of free throws from Jones' Michael Williams Jr., the lead was back up to nine, but Co-Lin's Darius Kent hit a long ball to once again bring it to six. After another free throw, Daniels hit yet another three, his fourth three-pointer in just three minutes. The three cut the lead to four, 87-83, with nine seconds left, but it was just too late for the Wolves as Jones escaped Mullen with an 88-83 victory.

Miles Daniels led the Wolves after shooting 6-of-8 from three-point range for 22 points off the bench. Xavier Heidelberg had another stellar game as he scored 19, while Damarius Brooks and Cameron Woodall both had 11. Woodall led the team in rebounds with seven, while Brooks had the most assists with five.

Galen Alexander led Jones with 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Kenneth Rogers scored 21. Winceton Edwards and Zachariah Malone came off the bench to score 12 and 13 points respectively.

Co-Lin shot 46 percent (25-of-55) from the floor, 39 percent (9-of-23) from three-point range, and 75 percent (24-of-32) from the free throw line. The Bobcats shot 51 percent (33-of-65) from the floor, 38 percent (9-of-24) from downtown, and 81 percent (13-of-16) from the stripe. Both teams finished with 33 rebounds.
