Co-Lin drops contest to LSU Eunice

EUNICE, La. - The Wolves of Copiah-Lincoln Community College fell to 0-2 on Thursday after an 87-69 loss to the LSU Eunice Bengals. The loss improves the Bengals to 3-0 on the year. The Wolves are on the road again next week as the team travels to Moorhead, Miss. to face the Mississippi Delta Trojans. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.

The Wolves were in the game early as the team leaped out to a 7-3 in the first three minutes of play. Unfortunately, that lead was short-lived as the Bengals rallied back on a 17-2 run led by Mamady Djinkine. The remainder of the second half was much of the same as the Wolves battled to get back into the game, cutting the lead to as few as 10, 32-22. At the break, the Bengals led the Wolves 50-29, after another big run capped by a three-pointer at the buzzer.

The Wolves refused to give in the second half as they continued to fight for every point available, but the team ultimately fell 87-69.

Cameron Woodall led the Wolves in the scoring column as the sophomore piled up 21-points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor. Dajon Whitworth had a good outing with 10 points, while Je'Kevious Williams, Lance Madison, and Perkins all finished with seven. Isaiah Payne led LSU Eunice with 22 points after hitting 4-of-7 three-pointers, while Djikine, Tyrone Hugue, and Jonathan Cisse posted 14 points each.

Co-Lin shot 35 percent (25-of-72) from the floor, 17 percent (4-of-24) from three-point range, and 54 percent (15-of-28) from the free-throw line. The Bengals shot 45 percent (34-of-76) from the floor, 34 percent (11-of-32) from downtown, and 73 percent (8-of-11) from the stripe. Despite the loss, the Wolves outrebounded the Bengals 49 to 48.
