Co-Lin breezes by Royal Ambassadors

WESSON, Miss. - The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves picked up their first win of the year in thrilling fashion with a 126-41 thrashing of the Royal Ambassador Lions. The win moves Co-Lin to 1-3 on the year. The Wolves are back at home in Mullen Gymnasium next Monday, November 18, as the team hosts William Carey JV. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

Thursday's matchup was all Co-Lin from the start as the team ran out to a 21-point, 27-6, lead in the first seven and a half minutes of play. Co-Lin continued to grow that lead throughout the game and took a 53-point, 72-19, lead into the locker room at half time.

Co-Lin's offense was essentially unstoppable by the Lions as the Wolves set up many perimeter shots and got to the basket with impressive post play. That offensive dominance was paired with a strong defensive performance that saw 19 steals and nine blocks. The Wolves also shared the ball extremely well with a season-high 30 assists and just nine turnovers.

All 13 players that dressed out for Co-Lin were in the scoring column with six players, TJ Monroe, Dajon Whitworth, Tyree Lomax, Cameron Woodall, and Jamarkus Wilson, all scoring in the double-digits. Monroe and Whitworth led the team with 16 points each in the game. Demarcus Ellzey led the Wolves in rebounds as he hauled in seven boards off the bench.

The Wolves shot the lights out as Co-Lin was 60 percent (48-of-80) from the floor, 43 percent (15-of-35) from three-point range, and 88 percent (15-of-17) from the free-throw line. The Lions shot 29 percent (17-of-59) from the floor, 10 percent (1-of-10) from downtown, and 60 percent (6-of-10) from the stripe. The Wolves outrebounded the Lions 44 to 33.
