Canoville and Laws Power Wolves to Road Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team returned to action with a road game against Lawson State Community College on Saturday, November 12. The Wolves cruised to an 84-65 win over the Cougars behind the stellar performances of sophomore forward Kaeden Laws (Southaven) and freshman forward Dylan Canoville (Plantation, FL) who both recorded double-doubles in the game.

The Wolves jumped out to a big lead after the first period of play as they dominated the Cougars from wire-to-wire and led 39-23 as the teams entered their locker rooms for halftime.

Although the Cougars played closer to the Wolves in the second half, they could not overcome the Wolves big lead as the Wolves outscored them 45-42 throughout the half securing the 84-65 win.

The Wolves had three players hit double-digit scoring figures in the game as Kaeden Laws led all scorers with 28 points and added 10 rebounds for his double-double, while Canoville was the second-leading scorer of the game with 21 points and led all players in rebounds with 12 for his double-double. Sophomore forward AJ Warnsley (Byram) just missed his second straight double-double performance with 12 points and nine rebounds, but Warnsley has hit double digit scoring in all four games this season for the Wolves.

Sophomore guards Jemario Hersey (Brookhaven), Andrew Anderson (Hattiesburg), and Jahvon Smith (Hallandale, FL) had nine, seven, and four points respectively while freshman guard Deandre Brisco (Indianola) had two points, and sophomore guard Cowandric Samuel (Jackson) had one point to round out the scoring for the Wolves. Samuel led the team in assist with six.

As a team, the Wolves shot 28-of-65 for percentage of 43.1, including 7-of-23 from three for 30.4 percent. The Wolves went 21-of-29 from the free point line for 72.4 percent bolstered by the performance of Canoville as he went 11-for-11 from the charity stripe.

Co-Lin improves to 2-2 overall on the season and will return to action with a home game against Baton Rouge on Tuesday, November 15. The action between the Bears and the Wolves tips off at 6:00 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
