Wolves Win Sixth Straight On The Road Over Bulldogs

UTICA – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team returned to action on the road against Hinds on Thursday, February 9. The Wolves beat the Bulldogs, 76-65, for their sixth straight win in MACCC play.

The Wolves got off to a bit of a slow start in the first half and then battled back and forth with the Bulldogs for control of the game. Ultimately the Wolves finished the first half with a 41-36 lead as the teams entered the locker rooms for halftime.

The Wolves then came out in the second half and held the Bulldogs off throughout the remainder of play as they once again outscored them this time by a 35-29 margin to secure the 76-65 victory.

Freshman forward Dylan Canoville continued his late season surge as a dominant offensive force for the Wolves with a game-leading 24 points along with eight rebounds, one assist, and two steals. The Wolves also had the second leading scorer in the game as sophomore guard Jemario Hersey (Brookhaven) had 19 points with six rebounds and three assists while sophomore forward AJ Warnsley (Byram) had 11 points with two rebounds, one assist, and one block.

Sophomore guard Cowandric Samuel (Jackson) had nine points with four rebounds, one block a game-leading five steals, and tied for the game high in assists with five. Sophomore forward Kaeden Laws (Southaven) had seven points with seven rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocks while sophomore guard Andrew Anderson (Hattiesburg) had six points to round out the scoring for the Wolves. Anderson also had six rebounds, one steal, and tied Samuel for the game high in assists with five.

The Wolves improve to 13-5 overall, 7-2 in conference play, and return to action with a road game against Coahoma on Saturday, February 11. Tip-off between the Wolves and the Tigers is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Pinnacle in Clarksdale.
