WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's soccer team returned to action with a road contest against Holmes on Tuesday, October 4. The Wolves fell behind early to the Bulldogs, but then responded with a frenzied offensive attack to take the match 5-1.

The Bulldogs got on the board first with their only goal of the match in the 31st minutes to take a 1-0 lead. However, the lead was short-lived for the Bulldogs as the Wolves responded in the 32nd minute with a goal from freshman forward Yosvin Ramirez as he headed in the ball past the Bulldogs keeper off a corner kick from freshman midfielder John Hrivnak (Madison).

The Wolves then kept pressing the attack and would get the lead in the 43rd as sophomore defender Lawson Pearson scored his first career goal with an assist from freshman forward Cooper Madison (Vicksburg) making the score 2-1. The lead for the Wolves held at 2-1 as the horn sounded for halftime.

The Wolves added to their lead early in the second half as freshman Alfie Lally (Manchester, England) converted on a penalty kick attempt in the 49th minute to increase the lead to 3-1. The final two goals for the Wolves came just five minutes apart as sophomore defender Eli Harrist (Brandon) scored his first goal of the season in the 79th minute, while sophomore forward Hardy Lewis scored on a header off a free kick by Hrivnak (his second assist of the gam) in the 84th minute to make the score 5-1.

The Wolves then stalled out the Bulldogs for the remaining minutes of the game to secure the 5-1 victory.

"The best part about the men's game were the lads coming off the bench and making a difference," said Co-Lin head coach Tom Cosgrave. "Our subs were excellent and changed the game for us. Having the ability to rotate through players and still cause trouble for opposing teams shows the depth we have on our squad this season."

Freshman goalkeeper Leo Summers (Cornwall, England) saved four of five shots faced during the match allowing one goal.

Co-Lin improves to 7-1-2 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play and will return to action on Friday, October 7, hosting East Central. The action on the pitch between the Warriors and the Wolves will kick off at 3 p.m., at Stone Stadium.
