Wolves Get Second Straight Shutout Win

SENATOBIA – The Co-Lin Men's soccer team returned to the pitch with a road match against Northwest Mississippi on Friday, October 14. The Wolves earned a second straight clean sheet with a 2-0 shutout over the Rangers.

"We came out flat and took a while to grow into the game," said Co-Lin head coach Tom Cosgrave. "We were creating plenty of chances we just were not finishing anything early in the match."

The Wolves got on the board with just two seconds left on the clock in the first half as freshman forward Cooper Madison (Vicksburg) beat the Rangers keeper with an assist from sophomore forward Hardy Lewis (Brandon) to make the score 1-0. The second goal for the Wolves came in the 56th minute as freshman midfielder Alfie Lally (Manchester, England) converted on a penalty kick attempt to make the score 2-0. The Wolves then stalled out the Rangers attack for the remainder of the game to secure the victory.

"I am glad that we maintained our composure, won the game, and came away with no injuries or suspensions," added Cosgrave. "This win makes our match with Jones on Tuesday even more exciting now."

Freshman goalkeeper Leo Summers (Cornwall, England) saved all three shots on goal he faced throughout the match.

Co-Lin improves to 9-1-2 overall, 6-0-1 in conference play, and will return to action hosting Jones in the home regular season finale on Tuesday, October 18. The action on the pitch between the Bobcats and the Wolves is set to kick off at 8:30 p.m., at Stone Stadium. The Wolves will be celebrating Sophomore Day and will honor their sophomores between the women's and men's matches.
