Wolves Stumble Against Bobcats

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team hosted Jones in their home regular season finale on Tuesday, October 18. The Bobcats beat the Wolves by a final of 3-1.

"We came out flat to start the game and Jones punished us early in the match," stated Co-Lin head coach Tom Cosgrave.

The Bobcats took an early 1-0 lead with their first goal in the fourth minute of the match. The lead was then extended to 2-0 as the Bobcats converted a penalty kick for a goal in the 28th minute.

The lone goal for the Wolves cut the lead down to 2-1 as freshman forward Yosvin Ramirez (Bogue Chitto) ripped a free kick goal past the Bobcats goalkeeper in the 31st minute. Despite multiple scoring chances throughout the remainder of the first half, the Wolves could not get an equalizing goal as the Bobcats held a 2-1 lead as the horn sounded for halftime.

The Bobcats added their third goal of the match in the 52nd minute and then stalled out the Wolves attack for the remainder of the match to secure a 3-1 win.

Freshman goalkeeper Leo Summers (Cornwall, England) saved six of nine shots on goal faced throughout the match.

"It wasn't our night during this match as we struggled to get anything going in possession and made too many mistakes defensively," added Cosgrave. "We will regroup, refocus, and be ready for our big game on Friday."

Co-Lin is now 9-2-2 overall, 6-1-1 in conference play, and will return to action on the road against Pearl River. The action on the pitch between the Wolves and Wildcats kicks off at 7 p.m., at PRCC Soccer Complex in Poplarville.
