Wolves End Historic Season with Loss to Eagles

MADISON – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team faced off against Hinds in the Gulf South District Tournament quarterfinals on Friday, October 28. The Eagles beat the Wolves by a final of 4-2.

The Eagles took the lead early in the match scoring their first goal in just the sixth minute of the match and then increased their lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 23rd minute.

The Wolves cut the lead down to 2-1 as freshman forward Diogo Silvestre (Vallorbe, Switzerland) beat the Eagles keeper from outside the box with an assist from freshman midfielder Alfie Lally (Manchester, England). The score held at 2-1 throughout the remainder of the first half.

The Wolves tied the game early in the second half as sophomore forward Hardy Lewis (Brandon) blasted the ball past the Eagles keeper with an assist from Silvestre to make the score 2-2 in the 49th minute. The Eagles then scored the go-ahead goal in the 79th minute and their final goal in the 87th minute to seal the 4-2 win.

Freshman goalkeeper Leo Summers (Cornwall, England) saved five of nine shots on goal faced in the match.

Co-Lin finishes the season 10-3-3 overall.
