Wolves fall to Hinds in tight match

RAYMOND, Miss. - The Copiah-Lincoln Community College men's tennis team dropped the season opener to Hinds after a tough match on Friday, January 31. Co-Lin battled throughout the match in both doubles and singles but ultimately fell 4-5. 

In doubles action, Co-Lin's Jordi Morey and Julian Toloza teamed up at No. 1 and defeated Hinds' Abraham Gonzalez and Chris Adams, 8-4. Skyler Rasberry and John Ready played No. 2 for the Wolves and lost to Berto Le Roux and Chambers Berthea, 4-8. Tyler Leggett and Andrew Hulon paired up at No. 3 doubles and lost to Tommy Sims and Walker Magee, 2-8. 

In singles play, Morey grabbed a hard-fought win at No. 1 after defeating Gonzalez in a tiebreaker, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6. Toloza followed suit at No. 2 and picked up a victory after blanking Adams in the second set 6-4, 6-0. Rasberry fell to Le Roux at No. 3, 2-6, 1-6, while Leggett lost to Berthea, 0-6, 0-6 at No. 4. Ready battled back from a second set loss to Bryce Ramshur at No. 5 and secured another win for the Wolves in a tiebreaker, 7-6, 3-6, 10-7. Samuel Boutwell closed out singles play at No. 6 and fell to Sims, 2-6, 1-6. 

The Wolves are back on the court Friday, February 7 as Co-Lin plays host to Itawamba Community College in Wesson. Matches start at 1 p.m.
