Lady Wolves sweep Lurleen B. Wallace

WESSON, Mississippi  The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves swept a pair of games from Lurleen B. Wallace (AL) taking game one 9-1 in six innings and 4-3 in eight innings. The Lady Wolves move to 4-0 on the season. The travel to Baton Rouge for a doubleheader beginning a 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20.  

Lady Wolves 9, Lurleen B. Wallace 1 (6 innings) 

It was a pitcher's duel until the Lady Wolves broke the game open with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.Marley Poole led off the inning with a walk. With one out Delaine McMillan singled. April Lynn singled to load the bases. Carly Polk singled to left field to score Poole and McMillan to give the Lady Wolves a 2-0 lead. Katelyn Hayman doubled scoring Lynn. Macy Ziskin singled to score Polk and Hayman to put Co-Lin up 6-0. 

The Lady Saints plated a run in the top of the fifth to cut the Co-Lin lead to 6-1.  

In the bottom of the sixth with one out, Hayman reached on an error and reached second on a passed ball. Ziskin followed with an RBI single to increase the Lady Wolves lead to 7-1. Brabham hit a 2-run home run to left field to give the Lady Wolves a 9-1 win. 

Kaytlon Ward picked up her second win of the season allowing one run on four hits, striking out three in six innings of workAbsorbing the loss was Ashlyn Hamm. She allowed six runs on eight hits striking out one in three and a third innings. Karsyn Kemsel came relieved Hamm throwing two innings. She allowed two earned runs on three hits striking out one. 

At the plate, Ziskin had three singles and three RBIs. Brabham had a home run and a single for two RBIs. McMillan was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Hayman (1 RBI) and Norman added support with a double apiece. Lynn and Polk (2 RBIs) had a single apiece. 

Co-Lin 4, Lurleen Wallace 3 (8 Innings) 

Carlon Brabham's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Lady Wolves a 4-3 walk-off win 

The Lady Saints plated two runs in the top of the first inning. Co-Lin would answer in the bottom of the inning taking a 3-2 lead. Hayman and Ziskin hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. Brabham smashed a two RBI single to left field to tie the game. Abigail Carter grounded into a fielder's choice. Poole would follow with a line drive to center. McMillan singled to left to score Carter and give the Lady Wolves a 3-2 lead. 

L. B. Wallace knotted the game up at three in the top of the second inning on an Anna Vaughn RBI double.  

The score remained tied until the bottom of the eighth. 

Freshman Karlie Johnson picked up her second win of the season. She threw six shutout innings allowing three hits, striking out one and walking two. Starter Alexis Garoutte tossed two innings, allowing six hits and three runs while walking one.  

For the Lady Saints, Caitlin Terrell took the loss allowing three runs on seven hits over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out five. 

At the plate for the Lady Wolves, Brabham led the way with a single and three RBIs.  Polke doubled. Adding support with a single apiece was Hayman, Ziskin, Molly Davis, Poole, and McMillan.
