Lady Wolves come from behind from to defeat Hinds

WESSON, Miss. – The Lady Wolves of Copiah-Lincoln Community College outscored the Hinds Lady Bulldogs 48-19 in the second half to secure a come from behind MACJC South Division win. The win moved the Lady Wolves to 17-4 overall and to 8-4 in division play. Hinds drops to 6-14, 1-11. The Lady Wolves are back in Mullen on Monday, February 18 for the final home game of the season versus Meridian. Sophomores will be recognized, and fans are asked to wear pink for breast cancer awareness. The Lady Wolves struggled to find the rim early as the Lady Bulldogs took a lead in the first two minutes of play. The Lady Wolves cut the lead down to two, 10-8, but a Hinds run closed out the quarter. The Lady Bulldogs led 17-8 after one.

Co-Lin picked up the pace in the second quarter and cut Hinds' lead to just four, 25-21. Hinds made a late push in the final minutes of the second with two three-pointers in the final seconds. At the break, the Lady Bulldogs led 35-22.

The third quarter was a different story of the Lady Wolves as the team fired off 27 points. Co-Lin went on a 15-2 run in the final five minutes of the quarter to take a six-point, 49-43 lead.

In the forth, the Lady Wolves continued to pour in the points as they added another 21. Co-Lin's lead continued to grow as the Lady Wolves played lockdown defense in the final quarter and held Lady Bulldogs to just 11 points. The impressive play led to a 16-point, 70-54 win.

Four Lady Wolves scored 13 points in the game. Sha'Quandra Carter, Camryn Davis, TaMara Riley, and T'Kyra Hicks. Darien Tubby led the Lady Wolves in rebounds with 10, while Carter brought down nine. Other notable performances included Alexandria Patton scoring seven off the bench.

Victoria Johnson led Hinds with 17 points, while Chloe Jones scored 12. Deja Moore led Hinds on the glass with seven boards.

Co-Lin shot 45 percent (28-of-62) from the floor, 25 percent (3-of-12) from three-point range, and 55 percent (11-of-20) from the free throw line. The Lady Bulldogs shot 34 percent (19-of-56) from the floor, 29 percent (4-of-14) from downtown, and 86 percent (12-of-14) from the stripe. Co-Lin outrebounded the Bulldogs 48 to 30.
