Co-Lin moves to 1-0 in MACJC play

WESSON, Miss. - The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves moved to 6-1 on Monday night with an 88-79 victory over the Pearl River Community College Lady Wildcats, but more importantly, the team moves to 1-0 in MACJC South Division play. Co-Lin is back at home this Thursday, December 12, as the team hosts the Delgado Lady Dolphins in Mullen Gymnasium. Pearl River started the game on fire as the team quickly built a 10-point, 20-10, lead in the first quarter after hitting several big three-pointers. Going into the second quarter, the Lady Wolves trailed 22-13. That Pearl River lead grew to a game-high 12, 32-20, midway through the second quarter before a quick 8-2 run from the Lady Wolves. The quick burst was fueled by a pair of three-pointers from Co-Lin's Orlandrea McGee. At the half, Co-Lin trailed 36-28. 

The Lady Wolves came to life midway through the third as the team began scoring from all parts of the floor. Co-Lin strung together a 13-3 swing with baskets from Sha'Quandra Carter, TaMara Riley, Camryn Davis, Darien Tubby, and other three from Orlandrea McGee. The momentum shift put Co-Lin on top for the first time since early in the first quarter, 46-45. The score stayed close until the opening moments of the fourth quarter when Riley quickly poured in five-points to stretch Co-Lin's lead to nine, 65-56. The Lady Wolves never looked back and held own to that lead for the remainder of the quarter. 

Five Lady Wolves including, Carter, Riley, McGee, Davis, and Dashell Davis, all scored in double-digits with Carter and Riley leading the way with 17 each. Riley also led the team on the glass with nine rebounds while Camryn Davis, and Dashell Davis both brought down eight. Tubby led the Lady Wolves with eight assists. Alanna Smith led Pearl River with 18 points, while Mychala Linzy scored 15. 

The Lady Wolves shot 48 percent (29-of-60) from the floor, 35 percent (8-of-23) from three-point range, and 63 percent (22-of-35) from the free-throw line. The Lady Wildcats shot 42 percent (25-of-59) from the floor, 46 percent (10-of-22) from downtown, and 73 percent (19-of-26) from the stripe. Co-Lin crushed the Lady Wildcats on the glass as the team outrebounded Pearl River 47 to 24.
