DECATUR, Miss. - The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves controlled the game from the opening tip Thursday night on the way to a 62-44 victory over East Central. The win moves the Lady Wolves to 11-8, 5-5 on the year and puts Co-Lin in sole possession of fourth place in the MACJC South Division. East Central falls to 8-11, 3-7 on the year. The Lady Wolves take on Southwest on Monday, February 10, who sits in second place with a 15-4, 8-2 record. "This was game we had to win, we had several games where didn't play well and didn't shoot well, but it was a lot different for us tonight," said Co-Lin head coach Gwyn Young. "For us, if we play solid defense and shoot upwards of 42 percent, you have a great chance of winning the ballgame. We executed on the offensive end and matched up on what they were playing very well. It was a good win for us."

After trading baskets on the first couple of possessions the Lady Wolves took a 6-5 lead with a layup from Dashell Davis. Co-Lin never surrendered that lead for the remainder of the contest as that sparked a 10-0 run with baskets from TaMara Riley, Darien Tubby, Oreion James, and a pair of free throws from Camryn Davis. The hot start put the Lady Wolves on top 14-5 midway through the first quarter. The second quarter was even more explosive for Co-Lin as the Lady Wolves rattled off another 10-0 run over the final three minutes to take a 16-point, 35-19 lead into the break. Co-Lin outpaced the Lady Warriors 18-8 in the second quarter alone.

The second half was much of the same for Co-Lin as the team executed on the offensive end of the floor and played solid defense on the other. The combination led to the Lady Wolves growing the lead to as much as 24, 47-23, midway through the third quarter.

Sha'Quandra Carter led the Lady Wolves in the scoring column with 17 points, while Camryn Davis finished with 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Tubby led Co-Lin in assists with four. Jariyah Covington led East Central with 12 points, while Mylisha Hammond and Kimberly Green posted six rebounds each.

The Lady Wolves shot 42 percent (22-of-52) from the floor, 46 percent (5-of-11) from three-point range, and 62 percent (13-of-21) from the free-throw line. The Lady Warriors shot 27 percent (16-of-60) from the floor, 18 percent (4-of-22) from downtown, and 73 percent (8-of-11) from the stripe. The Lady Wolves outrebounded the Lady Warriors 45 to 37, but had 20 turnovers to ECCC's 16.
