Lady Wolves move to 2-0 with 8-1 win over ECCC

WESSON, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves are 2-0 on the year after another dominating win this weekend. Co-Lin rolled by East Central Community College in Wesson, 8-1. The Lady Wolves are back on the court this Thursday for yet another home match as the Jones College Lady Bobcats make the trip. Matches are set to start at 2 p.m.

In doubles action, Paula Coronado and Carmen Manicea teamed at the Lady Wolves' No. 1 spot. The duo defeated Ali Grace Walker and Josie Hurst 8-4. Katy Clark and Kara Clark paired up at No. 2 and blew past ECCC's Gabriela Gomez and Kayla Baucum 8-0, while Co-Lin's other set of twins, Madison Shows and McKenzie Shows played No. 3. The Shows defeated Bethany Wellerman and Alexis Tindall in a thrilling match that ended in a tiebreaker, 8-8, 9-7.

In singles play, Coronado blanked ECCC's Gomez at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0. Manicea also rallied past Wallace at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0. Katy Clark defeated the Lady Warriors' Hurst at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-1. Kara Clark split sets with Tindall 7-5, 4-6, but won the 10-point tiebreaker to determine the winner, 10-6. Co-Lin's Ashlyn Locke fell to Wellerman at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-3, and Faith Bergeron grabbed a win at No. 6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) over Kayla Baucum
