Wolves have deep, talented roster in 2020

WESSON, Miss. - The Copiah-Lincoln Community College men's tennis team is under new direction in first-year head coach Dana Hale and has a roster full of potential and new faces.

"Our men had a good showing in fall pre-season play," said Hale. "None of these men were on the roster last year, but they have all come in very eager and we hope to carry our solid fall play into the spring."

Sophomores on the roster include Jordi Morey and Skyler Rasberry

Morey is a native of Barcelona, Spain and transfer from Jones College. He is the leader of the team in experience and is a true coach on the court. Though skilled in every discipline of the game, Morey is humbled and a cheerleader for the Wolves. The sophomore has a very strong first and second serve that is utilized to set up winners.

Rasberry is a talented player from Wesson. He is extremely coachable, has a great attitude on the court, and has a strong mental game on the court.

Samuel Boutwell is a freshman from Wesson. He provides a lot of energy on the court and gives his all on every point played. The Enterprise High School graduate refuses to give up, which makes him a very tough competitor.

Duncan Falvey is a Brookhaven native who is skilled in many areas of the game but keeps the atmosphere light and fun. The freshman is a team-favorite that keeps the Wolves in goods spirits.

Andrew Hulon, a freshman from Wesson, is a stoic player that plays with a lot of spin on the ball. He plays with a lot of patience in an effort to outlast opponents rather than shoot for winners on a consistent basis.

Preston Ivy, a Magee native, is very similar to Hulon in that he also plays the long game on the court. Known as a defensive player, Ivy will hustle to every ball and find ways to get it back.

Tyler Leggett is another Enterprise High School product that adds great depth to the roster. Legget is a very strong doubles player with a lot of high school experience.

John Ready is yet another freshman on the Wolves lineup in 2020. The Monticello native is very aggressive at the net and uses his height and strength to his advantage. The player with good tennis IQ improved tremendously through the fall season.

Julian Toloza rounds out the 2020 team, but the Bogota, Colombia native is a freshman with a lot of pop in his racquet. Toloza plays with a lot of spin, but has a very strong serve and great volley play.

"The fall gave us a good idea at how strong other schools are in our league," said Hale. "We have a great group of guys that will work well together and are very diligent about practice. Our goal is to compete in every match that we play and pick up some upsets a long way.

"We are also very excited about our new tennis court complex that is in the works," said Hale. "We are thankful to the board of trustees, our president, and other administration on the funding and hard work. Overall, there is a lot to be excited about with our tennis program at Co-Lin."
