East Central tops Co-Lin in Wesson

WESSON, Miss. - The Co-Lin Lady Wolves fell to 8-4, 2-1 on Monday night after a tough, 56-49, loss to the East Central Community College Lady Warriors. ECCC moves to 6-6, 1-2. The Lady Wolves are back in action this Thursday, January 16 as the team takes the Southwest Community College Lady Bears in Summit. 

The Lady Wolves trailed early in the opening minutes but outscored the Lady Warriors 12-0 over the last six minutes, led by Camryn Davis, to take a 14-7 lead into the second quarter. Neither team found much offensive in the second period with the East Central outpacing Co-Lin 10 to six. At the break, the Lady Wolves led 20-17 in the low-scoring battle. 

The third was neck and neck as both teams traded baskets on the offensive end of the floor. The Lady Warriors posted a 12-2 run early in the fourth quarter that solidified their lead, which Co-Lin could not overcome down the stretch. 

Sha'Quandra Carter and Camryn Davis led the Lady Wolves 11 points each. The duo also both posted double-doubles with 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively. Jariyyah Covington led East Central with 24 points, while KeiMoya Walker led the team in rebounds with nine.

The Lady Wolves shot 30 percent (20-of-67) from the floor, 16 percent (3-of-19) from three-point range, and 67 percent (6-of-9) from the free-throw line. The Lady Warriors shot 39 percent (20-of-51) from the floor, 24 percent (4-of-17) from downtown, and 67 percent (12-of-18) from the stripe. The Lady Wolves outrebounded the Lady Warriors 44 to 38.
