Lady Wolves go 2-0 over the weekend

The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves picked up a pair of big MACJC wins this weekend as the team blanked Hinds, 9-0, and defeated Meridian, 6-3, in their toughest matchup yet. Both matches saw stellar play from a variety of Lady Wolves, including Susana Patino remaining perfect on the year as she shutout her opponents in both matches at No. 2 singles.

Paula Coronado paired up with Patino at No. 1 doubles for Co-Lin in both matches and the grouping defeated Hinds, 8-2, and Meridian, 8-4.

Co-Lin's twin duo, Madison Shows and Mckenzie Shows, played No. 2 doubles for the Lady Wolves in both contests and also went 2-0. The sisters got by Hinds, 8-2, before battling with Meridian's Rachel Vanhorn and Tessa Ward. The Lady Wolves escaped with a 9-8, 7-5, tiebreaker win on the road.

Britany Barnett and Gracie Phillips suited up for No. 3 doubles and won by default against Hinds. The pair had a tight match at Meridian as the two freshmen went toe-to-toe with Autumn Welborn and Britney Murphee. Meridian snuck by 9-8, 7-4 with a tiebreaker victory.

Coronado defeated Hinds' Emi Smith at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, to start the weekend before sliding past Meridian's Zoe Freke, 6-3, 6-1, to remain perfect on the weekend.

Patino played No. 2 singles, and as mentioned, blanked both Hinds and Meridian, 6-0, 6-0.

Madison Shows played No. 3 singles for Co-Lin and posted a 7-5, 6-2, win versus Hinds in an impressive come from behind win. The sophomore dropped a challenging match at Meridian as Vanhorn picked up a tiebreaker win after the two split sets, 6-4, 4-6.

Mckenzie Shows suited at No. 4 singles and left no doubt in both matches this weekend as she defeated Hinds, 6-2, 6-0, and cruised by Meridian's Tessa Ward, 6-1, 6-2.

Barnett picked up an interesting win over Hinds at No. 5 singles. After a close first set, 7-6, the freshman shutout Chloe Barton in the second, 6-0. She went on to defeat Meridian's Murphee, 6-4, 6-4.

Phillips got a win versus Hinds by default but lost a tough match to Meridian's Welborn for the second matchup of the weekend, 6-0, 6-2.
