The Co-Lin Blue Wave Show Band is one of the largest student groups and is comprised of some of the hardest working students at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
“I start with the show concept about a year before the product that our audience sees each fall,” said Co-Lin Director of Bands Juanita Proffitt. “My staff and I work together to produce a great product to entertain our crowd while showcasing our students’ talent.”
The 2019 Blue Wave Show Band pays tribute to Aretha Franklin. The “Queen of Soul” taught everyone about a little “R-E-S-P-E-C-T,” made us “Think,” took us riding on a “Freeway of Love,” while living her life as the ultimate “Natural Woman.” The Blue Wave Show Band is famous for their musical excellence and known for their exciting halftime performances and hopes to have fans on their feet during the halftimes in Stone Stadium.
This year the band is under the field direction of drum major Dontrel Brown. The Colette captains are Caroline Pace and Brianna Hynum and Color Guard Captains are Allie Claire Townsend and Helen Marseilles. This year’s featured vocalist is Karlie Jordan. Juanita Proffitt, Director of Bands, and Chad Austin, Assistant Band Director, are excited to welcome Kendra Washington, woodwind and Color Guard director and Shelbie Nettles, Colette director to our staff.
Thank you for your support of the Co-Lin Blue Wave Show Band.
