69 Co-Lin student-athletes named Academic All-State

JACKSON, Miss. - The MACJC has announced the 2019-2020 Academic All-State and Distinguished Academic All-State honorees. Academic All-State honor recipients must have earned between a 3.25 and 3.79 GPA on a 4.0 scale for a minimum of 24 cumulative hours, while Distinguished Academic All-State distinction, the MACJC's highest academic honor, is reserved for student-athletes with a 3.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Copiah-Lincoln Community College had 69 student-athletes receive honors with 30 earning Distinguished recognition. 

"MACJC student-athletes are competitive on the court or field, and in the classroom," said MACJC Commissioner Steve B. Martin in a statement released by the conference. "I couldn't be more proud of our student-athletes, coaches, athletic directors, and academic advisers for their hard work this year, particularly in these difficult and challenging times. The continued academic excellence of our student-athletes is a testament to their grit, character, and integrity."

Co-Lin's Distinguished Academic All-State honorees include April Lynn, Baileigh Jackson, Carlon Brabham, Carly Polk, Molly Davis, Ky'Albri Washington, Abigail Carter, Katelyn Hayman, Meagan Poole, and Macy Ziskin of the softball team, Trey Frierson, Will Harkins, Peyton Parker, Landry McQueen, Micah Parker and Kylar Fielder of the baseball team, Landon Murphy, Trent Tyre, and Bryce Loften of the football team, Jana Case and Morgan McCray of the women's basketball team, Logan Pitts of the golf team, Duncan Falvey, Jordi Morey, Skyler Rasberry, and John Ready of the men's tennis team, and Britany Barnett, Susana Patino, Madison Shows, and McKenzie Shows of the women's tennis team. 

Academic All-State recipients are Karlie Jackson, Karly Leake, Bella Luckey, Darien Tubby, Leah Beth Luckey, and Marley Poole of the softball team, Joshua Day, Tucker Jones, Adie Goodman, Brooks Italiano, Rhett Blackburn, Brandon Brown, Caleb St. Martin, Hunter Estes, Hunter Reinike, Bryce Henry, and Cade Lowery of the baseball team, Danny Clark, Tyrus Wheat, Patrick Johnson, Hayden Hill, Treshon Cooper, JJ Jernighan, Khelan Kennedy, Jalen Armstrong, John Allen, Grant Thompson, Dawson Brown, Keyshawn Brinkley, and Bo Brooks of the football team, William Davis, Adam Files, Garrett Herring, and Bryson Jones of the golf team, Andrew Hulon and Preston Ivey of the men's tennis team, and Paula Coronado and Gracie Phillips of the women's tennis team. 

"Our coaching staffs, faculty, and administration are committed to leading our student-athletes to perform well in the classroom, and ultimately to graduation. These honorees are an example of that commitment," said Co-Lin Athletic Director Bryan Nobile. "We are so proud of what they have accomplished on and off the field over this past year, especially with all of the additional challenges that the spring semester saw."

These student-athletes will now be eligible to receive NJCAA All-Academic awards, which is expected to be announced in July.
