Bio

Lane Young begins his seventh year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Eligibility and Compliance. Young is a Wesson native and the son of Co-Lin’s legendary women’s basketball coach Gwyn Young. 

He is a graduate of Wesson Attendance Center and came to Co-Lin in 1996 on an athletic scholarship to pitch for the Wolf Pack baseball team under the direction of former head coach Keith Case. 

Young received a bachelor’s in human performance from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1999. During his time at USM, Young began his coaching career by volunteering at Co-Lin. The Lady Wolves went on to win the MACJC State Championship and the NJCAA Region XXIII Championship in 1999.

From 1999-2002 Young continued his education at William Carey University and received his master’s degree in secondary education while coaching softball and girl’s basketball at Wesson Attendance Center. Young led the Lady Cobras to their first district title in softball in 2002.

Young coached at West Lincoln Attendance Center from 2002-2017 in a variety of roles. He led the Lady Bears’ basketball team to five district titles, and made 14 playoff appearances. As the men’s coach, he led the Bears to six district titles, 14 playoff appearances, and two MHSAA South State Championships in 2012 and 2013.  Young’s overall career record as a head basketball coach is 563-363.

He is married to the former Audrey Monroe of Brookhaven and they have two children, Mailey Kate and Reece Landry.
