WESSON – The No. 18 Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves open the 2017 season Thursday, August 31 at 7 p.m. on the road against Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead, Miss. Co-Lin leads the series over the Trojans 28-20-3 after a 44-0 shutout last season. Listen to the action live at colinathletics.com or WMJU 104.3 FM in Brookhaven.
The Co-Lin coaching staff will look for new faces in the backfield to replace last season's high-octane offense. Expect both quarterbacks, Woody Barrett and Hayden Davis, to get playing time, and Rico Owens and Deion Dampier to fill Ladarius Galloway's shoes, a 1,000-yard rusher last season.
The Wolves are also deep on the offensive line and have a quick group of wide receivers that hope to light up the scoreboard.
Co-Lin has become synonymous with a powerhouse defense, and 2017 will be no different. The Wolves have a solid defensive line with strong linebackers and a great group of athletic defensive backs. Look for Jonathan Lolohea to be a force on the defensive line and Lamoni Jones to be the vocal leader of Co-Lin's linebackers. In the secondary Co-Lin is filled with talent and hopes to provide lockdown defense.
