Eklund and Sublett earn CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition

WESSON, Miss. – The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Two Co-Lin players, Graham Eklund, a defensive back, and Griffin Sublett Co-Lin's kicker, earned this honor.

Copiah-Lincoln Community College falls in the College Division District 1, which includes all NAIA, two-year schools, and other affiliations in 23 different states.

To qualify for recognition players must have started in at least half of Co-Lin's games, posted significant stats at their position, and have at least a 3.3 GPA.

Eklund and Sublett are two of only three sophomores recognized in this division and two of three MACJC players that received the honor.

Sublett, a Pascagoula, Miss. native, was 10-for-12 on field goals this season and 26-for-27 on extra points with his only miss being a block. The sophomore received MACJC Player of the Week four times during his career, NJCAA Player of the Week twice, and MACJC All-State recognition both seasons.

Eklund, a defensive back from Jackson, Miss., had a breakout season in 2017. Eklund wrapped up 31 tackles on the year with four tackles for loss. As a sophomore the Jackson Prep graduate posted 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and a 30-yard pick six in the Wolves' season opener versus Mississippi Delta Community College.

As First-team Academic All-District honorees Eklund and Sublett advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first-team and second-team Academic All-America honorees being announced in December.
