Wolves lose to Southwest in Summit

SUMMIT – The Wolves were unable to over come Southwest's 58 percent shooting Thursday night as the Bears defeated Co-Lin 80-69 in Summit. The loss moves the Wolves to 10-11 on the season and 4-8 in the MACJC South Division. The Wolves are back in action as Meridian travels to Wesson to take on Co-Lin in Mullen Gymnasium Monday, Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. The contest is the last home game for the Wolves this season and will serve as sophomore night. "We fell below .500 for the first time tonight, and we have one home game left," said head coach Kenny Bizot. "The support for us has been unbelievable, so we need to be ready for the last two games and find our offensive rhythm…we are looking to finish this season on a positive note; there is a lot fight left in these guys and this coaching staff."

Southwest took an early lead, as the Bears seemed to find the basket on ever possession. The Bears led by seven with 14 minutes remaining in the half before the Wolves' offensive began rolling. Co-Lin went on an 11-2 run to take a two-point lead with 9:07 remaining.

The Bears responded with a 17-2 run of their own that took the air out of the 
Wolves offensive. The scoring barrage gave the Bears a 14-point lead that they took to the half.

Co-Lin was never able to bounce back from the large lead in the second half. With 7:04 remaining in the game the Wolves cut the lead to just five, 60-55, but the Bears once again went on brief run and pulled the game out of reach.

Lamarcus Lee led the Wolves 21 points, while Jonathan "Biscuit" Floyd poured in 19 and dished out five assists. Tyrell McArthur finished with 11 points and Youry White scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds.

James Hawthorn led Southwest with a double-double after netting 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Rodrick Sikes also finished with 17 points for the Bears.

Co-Lin shot 39 percent (24-for-61) from the field, 23 percent (5-for-22) from three-point range, and 57 percent (16-of-28) from the free throw line. The Wolves brought down 20 rebounds. Southwest shot 58 percent (26-for-45) from the field, 33 percent (4-for-12) from three-point range, and 69 percent (24-for-35) from the foul line. The Bears posted 48 rebounds.
