Wolves suffer loss to East Central

DECATUR – The Wolves of Copiah-Lincoln were unable to overcome a strong second half outing by East Central. The Warriors netted 53 points in the second half to clinch an 88-75 victory. The loss moves the Wolves to 7-6 on the season and to 1-3 in South Division play. Co-Lin takes the floor again Monday, Jan. 23 as the Wolves hosts The Southwest Community College Bears at 8. The Wolves started the game very slowly as East Central pulled away to a 12-1 lead in the first four minutes of action. The rough start did not deter the Wolves as they battled back over the next 10 minutes and took a 29-28 lead with 5:28 remaining in the half. Action continued back and forth for the remainder of the half with the Warriors taking a three-point lead into the locker room.

Second half action resembled that of the beginning of the game. The Wolves struggled to get shots to fall, while East Central seemed to be unable to miss. The Warriors quickly stretched their lead to double digits and The Wolves were simply unable to recover in the final minutes.

Jonathan "Biscuit" Floyd led the Wolves with 21 points and six assists. Lamarcus Lee added another 18 points and eight rebounds, while Anthony Jones rounded out Co-Lin's top scorers with 13 points.

Tonzell Handy finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors while Antonio Clark came off the bench to add 19.

Co-Lin shot 37 percent (23-for-63) from the field, 24 percent (6-for-25) from three-point range, and 74 percent (23-of-31) from the free throw line. The Wolves brought down 37 rebounds. East Central shot 54 percent (29-for-54) from the field, 43 percent (6-for-14) from three-point range, and 69 percent (24-for-35) from the foul line. The Lady Warriors posted 24 rebounds.
