Wolves earn first MACJC South Division win

WESSON – Impressive shooting helped hoist the Wolves over the Hinds Bulldogs Tuesday night in a thrilling 99-91 Co-Lin victory. The win moves the Wolves to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the South Division. "We had several guys step up tonight which was nice to see as a coach," said head coach Kenny Bizot. "Our shooting was just outstanding tonight; this was the first game that we've really been able to run our offense…it's a really big win for us."

Hinds took an early 4-0 lead over Wolves in the first seconds of action. Co-Lin settled in the following minutes and rattled off several baskets from numerous players to take a 12-point lead just seven minutes into the contest. The Wolves continued to move the ball, crash the boards, and control the tempo of the game heading into the half.

The Bulldogs found a rhythm in the second half and clawed back into contention after a flurry of offense in the opening minutes. The rally gave Hinds a one-point lead with 15:45 remaining in the game. Co-Lin continued to hit vital three-pointers in the final 10 minutes of play as Hinds chipped away at the Wolves lead; never allowing the team to get comfortable. The Wolves finally solidified the win in the final minutes with strong free throw shooting.

Lamarcus Lee, a Baton Rouge, La. native, led the Wolves in scoring with 26 points. The freshman also brought down four rebounds. Anthony Jones, a freshman from Wesson, Miss., added an additional 15 points and six rebounds off the bench while Biscuit Floyd poured in 13 points and posted a team high eight assists.

Deangelo West led Hinds with 27 points, while Davonte Brewster netted 15 points.

Co-Lin shot a staggering 59 percent (38-for-65) from the field, 46 percent (11-for-24) from three-point range, and 63 percent (12-of-19) from the free throw line. The Wolves brought down 40 rebounds. Hinds shot 44 percent (31-for-71) from the field, 36 percent (9-for-25) from three-point range, and 77 percent (20-for-26) from the foul line. The Bulldogs posted 35 rebounds.
