Brooks and Riley earn MACJC Player of the Week

WESSON, Miss. – Both Damarius Brooks and TaMara Riley earned MACJC Player of the Week honors this week after stellar play against Mississippi Delta and Southern Arkansas University Tech.

Brooks poured in a career-high 36 points against Mississippi Delta after he went 12-of-17 from the floor and 8-of-9 from beyond the arc. Brooks also brought down six rebounds in that game. The sophomore from Brookhaven backed that performance up with a 20-point game against Southern Arkansas University Tech where he was 7-of-10 from the floor. He also finished the week going 100 percent, 8-of-8 from the free throw stripe.

"I just put it in Gods' hands and played great with my teammates," said Brooks. "The award is truly a blessing and I thank God for it."

TaMara Riley also had an outstanding week with two 20-point games. The freshman from Durant scored 22 against the Lady Trojans of Mississippi Delta after shooting 75 percent from the floor, 9-of-12, and hauling in nine rebounds. Against Southern Arkansas University the freshman scored 20 points and once again controlled the boards with eight rebounds.

"This award means that my hard work has been paying off," said Riley. "I'm extremely proud but it doesn't stop here. I will continue to work hard because nothing comes easy."

Both the Lady Wolves and Wolves are on the court this weekend, December 8 as the teams take on the Delgado Dolphins. The women tip at 1 p.m. and the men will follow at 3 p.m.
