Wolves Falter in Conference Opener

SUMMIT – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team opened conference play with a road contest against Southwest Mississippi on Thursday, December 2. The Bears beat the Wolves by a final of 106-93.

The Wolves had their best scoring half of the season as they posted 58 points in the first half of the game and led by as much as 23 points. However, the Bears fought back and cut the lead down to 58-48 by halftime.

The second half belonged to the Bears as they outscored the Wolves, 58-35, and secured the 106-93 win.

Sophomore guard Lerenzo Fort III (Jackson) led the Wolves offense with 28 points to go along with two rebounds and one assist. Sophomore forward Kareeme Davis (Trenton, N.J.) had another big night for the Wolves as he posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds along with two assists and one block. Sophomore guard Jordan Marshall (Raymond) also added 16 points to go along with two rebounds and shared team leads in assists and steals with three in each category, while sophomore forward AJ Warnsley (Byram) had 15 points with six rebounds, one steal, and shared the team lead in assists with three.

Sophomore center Cole Chapman (White Bear Lake, Minn.) had seven points with five rebounds, while sophomore guard Cameron Butler (Vicksburg) added six points with four rebounds and shared the team leads in assists and steals with three. Sophomore guard Jemario Hersey (Brookhaven) had three points, while freshman guard Constantine Morant (Hancock) added two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

The Wolves are now 2-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play and will return to action with a home contest against Southern University-Shreveport on Friday, December 10. Tip-off at Mullen Gymnasium is set for 4 p.m.
