Wolves Drop Two Games In Florida

MARIANNA, Fla. – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team hit the road for a pair of games facing off against No. 11 Chipola and Pensacola State on November 4 and 5. The Wolves lost the game to the Indians, 95-73 on Saturday, November 4, and dropped a one-possession game to the Pirates, 66-63.

The Indians used a big first half to take a lead over the Wolves outscoring them, 52-34, as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime. The Wolves then battled back throughout the second half but could not overcome the first half deficit as the Pirates outscored the Wolves, 43-39, to seal the 95 -73 win.

Courterius Scott led the Wolves offensively with 19 points along with four rebounds, four assists, and one steal. Devin Carter (Edwards) added 15 points with two rebounds while Emmanuel James (Nigeria) had 12 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Avaughn Johnson (Jackson) had ten points with a led the team in rebounds and blocks with seven and two respectively along with one assist.

Ismail Rashid (Jackson) had nine points, Jayden Jackson (Camden) had five points, Jamarion Smith (Magnolia) had two points, and Fred Gray, Jr. (Belzoni) had one point to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

PENSACOLA STATE 66 CO-LIN 63

The Wolves and Pirates battled throughout the first half, but the Pirates held a two-point advantage, 33-31, when the buzzer sounded for halftime. The Wolves continued to battle in the second half holding the Pirates to 33 points, but could not overcome the first half deficit, scoring 32 points to give the final of 66-63.

Avaughn Johnson led the way for the Wolves with a double-double performance of 18 points and ten rebounds along with three steals. Devin Carter added 14 points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals while Emmanuel James had 11 points with seven rebounds and led the team in blocks with three. Courterius Scott and Ismail Rashid had nine points while Dakota Hillard (Hazlehurst) had two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 1-2 on the season and returns to action hosting Delgado on Monday, November 6, at 6 p.m., in Mullen Gym in Wesson.
