Wolves Earn Come From Behind Win Against Dolphins

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team returned home to Mullen Gym hosting Delgado on Monday, November 6. The Wolves used an explosive second half to erase a halftime deficit and beat the Dolphins, 83-75.

The Wolves got off to a fast start in the opening minutes of the first half taking a 10-4 lead with just under 16 minutes of play remaining. The Dolphins then went on a 13-11 scoring run to close the Wolves lead to 21-17 with under ten minutes to play in the first half. The Dolphins then went on an 8-4 scoring run to tie the game at 25-25 with 5:34 remaining on the clock. The Dolphins then closed out the first half with a 13-6 scoring run to hold a 38-31 lead as the buzzer sounded for halftime.

The Dolphins then came out in the second half and used a quick 7-2 scoring run to gain their biggest lead of the game at 45-33 with just over 18 minutes of play left. However, the Wolves responded with a 14-8 scoring run to cut the lead down to 53-47 with just under 14 minutes remaining in the second half. Another scoring run by the Wolves, this time 8-2, tied the game at 55-55 with close to ten minutes left on the clock. The Wolves then gained the lead, 62-61, at the 7:44 mark after a three pointer by Devin Carter (Jackson) and the team never gave the lead back. The Wolves then closed out the game with a 21-14 scoring run to secure the victory over the Dolphins.

Devin Carter led the way for the Wolves offensively with 31 points along with five rebounds, two steals, and one block. Emmanuel James (Nigeria) had his second double-double performance of the season with 23 points and ten rebounds along with one assist, two steals, and a team-leading three blocks. Courterius Scott (Jackson) narrowly missed his first double-double of the season with 14 points and a team-leading nine assists and five steals.

Trevon Taylor (Jackson) had seven points, Ismail Rashid (Jackson) had six points, and Jayden Jackson (Camden) had two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 2-2 overall and will return to action on the road to face off against Delgado on Saturday, November 18 at 4:00 p.m.
