Wolves Blowout Baton Rouge Post Grad

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team returned to action hosting Baton Rouge Post Grad Academy on Wednesday, November 29. The Wolves dominated the entire game en route to the most points scored and largest margin of victory under head coach David Sanders, 122-57.

Baton Rouge Post Grad held the lead one time throughout the game after making back-to-back threes on early possessions making the score, 6-5, with 17:15 left in the first half. The Wolves then took the lead, 7-6, on a layup by Emmanuel James (Nigeria) on their next possession at the 16:59 mark and never relinquished it. The Wolves then went on a 10-3 scoring run to increase their lead to 17-9 with 13:43 remaining in the first half.

The Wolves increased their lead to 24-17 with 9:16 left in the first half. Devin Carter (Edwards) then lit the scoreboard up with three straight three-pointers while Avaughn Johnson (Jackson) added a field goal, followed by a three-pointer from Will Grayson (Yazoo City), and then a pair of free throws from Carter to increase the Wolves lead 40-22 with 5:35 left in the half.

The Wolves closed out the first half with a 20-3 scoring run including a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Carter to hold a 60-26 lead at halftime. The Wolves carried that momentum into the second half opening with a 10-2 scoring run to increase their lead to 70-28 with 18:35 remaining.

The Wolves then used a 15-6 scoring run over the next few minutes to increase their lead to 85-34 with 13:26 left in the second half. The Wolves then used a 15-11 scoring run capped off by a powerful dunk from Trevon Taylor (Jackson) to hit the century mark on the scoreboard increasing the lead to 100-45 with 7:17 left in the game.

The Wolves then closed out the game with a 22-12 run where Antonio Oatis (Hattiesburg) and Fred Gray, Jr. (Belzoni) scored the final 13 points of the game to secure the 122-57 win.

Devin Carter led all scorers with 29 points with two rebounds, two assists, and shared the game lead in steals with four. Dakota Hillard (Hazlehurst) had 17 points with three rebounds while Emmanuel James had his third straight double-double performance with 15 points and a game-leading 13 rebounds. Avaughn Johnson and Antonio Oatis had 11 points each with Johnson adding eight rebound and four assists while Oatis had two rebounds and three assists.

Ismail Rashid (Jackson) had seven points and seven rebounds while Courterius Scott (Jackson) and Jayden Jackson (Camden) had six points each with Scott having a game-leading five assists while Jackson added six rebounds. Corey Brown (Roxie) and Will Grayson had five points each while Fred Gray, Jr., and Trevon Taylor had four points each with Fred Gray, Jr., sharing the game lead in steals with four. Jamarion Smith (Magnolia) had two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin improves to 4-2 overall and will return to action hosting Southern-Shreveport on Friday, December 1. Tip-off between the Jaguars and the Wolves is set for 2 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
