Wolves Beat Warriors for Second Straight Win

DECATUR – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team resumed MACCC play with a road game against East Central on Monday, February 26. The Wolves beat the Warriors, 74-63, for their second straight win in conference play.

The Wolves used an early 8-7 scoring run to hold a lead over the Warriors with 16:23 on the clock. The Wolves then used a 7-5 scoring run to increase their lead to 15-12 with 9:13 left to play in the first half. The Wolves continued to grow their lead with an 11-9 scoring as the margin grew to 26-21 with 2:50 remaining. The teams then matched scoring totals to close out the half adding five points each, but the Wolves lead stood at 31-26 as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Wolves carried the momentum over to the second half as they opened with an 8-4 scoring run to extend their lead to 39-30 with 16:23 left to play. The Wolves continued to flex their muscles and used a 13-10 scoring run to grow their lead to 52-40 with 9:17 remaining in the game. The Wolves then closed out the game with a 22-13 scoring run to secure the 74-63 win over the Warriors.

Emmanuel James (Nigeria) set a new career high while leading all scorers with 27 points paired with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block. Ismail Rashid (Jackson) narrowly missed a double-double performance with 12 points and eight rebounds while Avaughn Johnson (Jackson) added 12 points with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Courterius Scott (Jackson) had nine points, Antonio Oatis (Hattiesburg) had seven points, while Dakota Hillard (Hazlehurst) added three points. Jamarion Smith (Magnolia) and Devin Carter (Edwards) had two points each to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 14-9 overall, 6-5 in conference play, and will return to action hosting Hinds on Thursday, February 29. Tip-off between the Bulldogs and Wolves is set for 7:30 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
