Wolves Falter Late Against Indians

FULTON - The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team played their final regular season road game against Itawamba on Monday, March 4. The Wolves could not holdoff a late surge by the Indians as they took an 83-77 victory away from the game.

The Indians jumped out to an early lead in the first half over the Wolves. However, the Wolves fought all the way back from down 13 points to hold a three-point lead, 40-37, over the Indians as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Wolves grew their lead throughout much of the second half, but the Indians started their comeback with close to six minutes remaining in the game. The Indians outscored the Wolves, 48-37, in the second half to secure the 83-77 win.

The Wolves had three players in double-digit scoring figures as Emmanuel James led all scorers with 25 points paired with seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal while Courterius Scott (Jackson) added 23 points with three rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Devin Carter (Edwards) had 14 points with three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.

Avaughn Johnson (Jackson) had eight points while Jamarion Smith (Magnolia) and Will Grayson (Yazoo City) had three points each and Ismail Rashid (Jackson) had one point to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 15-10 overall, 7-6 in conference play, and will finish the 2023-24 regular season hosting Meridian on Thursday, March 7. Tip-off between the Eagles and the Wolves is set for 7:30 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson. The Wolves will be celebrating Sophomore Day and will honor the sophomore members of the team between the women's and men's games.
