
Wolves Rout Bears for Fourth Straight Win
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team returned to action on the road against Baton Rouge on Monday, December 2. The Wolves dominated both sides of the court and both halves of the game en route to an 87-68 victory over the Bears.
"This was our most complete performance of the season," stated Co-Lin head coach David Sanders. "We kept our turnovers down and played tough defense all game. BRCC is a tough team to beat so this was a big win."
The Wolves owned the first half as they outscored the Bears, 43-35, to hold a lead by that margin at the end of play. As the teams came back from halftime, the Wolves continued to flex their muscles in the second half as they kept the lead at a substantial amount while outscoring the Bears, 44-33, to secure the 87-68 win.
Javian Watkins (Jackson) posted a double-double performance for the Wolves with 21 points and a game-leading ten assists and seven rebounds, while Deven Bates (Jackson) led all players with 28 points along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals. The Wolves had two more players narrowly miss double-double performances as Prince Ojukwu (Etobicoke, Ontario) had 14 points with nine rebounds with a game-leading four steals and one block while Chris Stephens, Jr. (Byram) had nine points and nine rebounds with two steals.
"Javian Watkins was unbelievable in the game while almost notching a triple-double," added Sanders. "Chris Stevens, Jr. was huge as well while Deven had another great night for us. Overall it was a great team win."
Dakotah Hillard (Hazlehurst) had eight points with six rebounds and a game-leading four blocks while Fred Gray, Jr. (Belzoni) had four points and Antonio Oatis (Hattiesburg) had three points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.
Co-Lin is now 5-4 overall and go for the fifth straight win when they hit the road to face off against Delgado on Wednesday, December 4. Tip-off between the Wolves and Dolphins is set for 7:30 p.m., at the Michael Williamson Center in New Orleans.
