Pair of Wolves Nab Postseason Awards

JACKSON – The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) announced the Men's Basketball Postseason Awards on Tuesday, March 18. The Wolves had two members of the team make the All-MACCC lists as freshman guard Deven Bates (Jackson) nabbed First Team All-MACCC honors while sophomore center Dakotah Hillard (Hazlehurst) was named Honorable Mention All-MACCC.

Deven Bates had a fantastic freshman season for the Wolves as he led the team in points per game at 23.1, free throw percentage at 72.7, and three-point percentage at 33.1. He was second on the team in field goal percentage at 44.2 percent. Bates also led the Wolves in rebounds per game at 7.8, and steals per game at 2.1, and was second on the team in assists per game at 3.8, while posting team-leading totals in points at 578, rebounds at 195, and steals at 52 while having the second-most assists at 94. His per game totals were also Top 10 in every category as he led the conference in points per game and was Top 5 in steals per game while being tied for seventh in rebounds per game and eighth in assists per game. His 578 points were third most in the MACCC while the 195 rebounds were the tenth-most in the conference. On the national front the points per game were Top 5 in Division I.

Dakotah Hillard had a strong sophomore season finishing second on the team in points per game at 13.8 and third in rebounds per game at 5.8 while leading the team in field goal percentage at 44.4 percent. He also averaged one assist per game which was the fifth-best total on the team. Hillard was second on the team in total points at 344 and blocks at 12 while also being third in total rebounds at 144.
