Wolfpack capture third, Smith named All-State

PHILADELPHIA – The Copiah-Lincoln Wolfpack golf team captured third place in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia. Sophomore Zach Smith of Madison was named MACJC Second Team All-State.

Meridian won the state championship with a score of 577 (287-290). Coming in a second was Mississippi Gulf Coast at 586 (285-301) followed by Co-Lin at 615 (312-303), East Central at 620 (312-308), Itawamba at 630 (317-313), Hinds at 647 (324-323), and East Mississippi at 675 (340-335.

Individually for Co-Lin, Smith finished tied for fifth place with a two-day total of 145 (76-69). Following Smith were Cameron Little at 156 (75-81), Lucas Brewer at 157 (82-75) and Matthew Scoville at 157 (79-78), and Bryce Chapman at 168 (86-82).

Medalist honors went to Will Kidder of Meridian with a 140 (68-72).

The Wolfpack will play in the NJCAA District D Championship hosted by East Mississippi Community College on April 28-29, at Lion Hills Country Club in Columbus.
