Wolfpack finish fourth, Smith qualifies for the NJCAA National Tournament

COLUMBUS – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolfpack finished fourth in the NJCAA District D Golf Tournament held at Lion Hills Country Club in Columbus. The Wolfpack shot a two-day total of 645 (311-334).

Co-Lin sophomore Zachary Smith of Madison qualified for the NJCAA Division II National Golf Tournament. The top three teams and the top two individuals qualify for the national tournament.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College won the tournament with a 591, 13 shots ahead of runner-up Meridian. Coming in a distant third was East Central with a 631 followed by Co-Lin and East Mississippi at 676.

Individually for Co-Lin, Smith shot a two-day total of 158 (79-79). Following Smith were Lucas Brewer at 161 (77-84), Cameron Little at 163 (78-85), Matthew Scoville at 164 (77-87), and Bryce Chapman at 167 (81-86).

Brice Wilkinson of Mississippi Gulf Coast took medalist honors with a 1-under par 143 (69-74) five shots ahead of Meridian's Rhett Walters who shot 148 (71-77).

Smith will compete in the NJCAA National Golf Tournament, which is set for May 21-24 at Glen Lakes Country Club in Foley, Alabama.
