Wolves finish top three in Wesson
WESSON, Miss. – For the third tournament in a row, the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves placed in the top three. This week Co-Lin tied for third in a tough field at the Wolves home course, Wolf Hollow, in Wesson. The Wolves, led by Garrett Herring shot a 612, which knotted the team with Itawamba. Mississippi Gulf Coast took first place, while Meridian was second. The Wolves also fielded five individuals in the tournament who combined for a 622.
Co-Lin shot a 304 in the opening round on Saturday, April 6. Herring led the team with a two-over, 74, while Lucas Brewer had a good showing with a 76.
Day two was challenging as the players took to the course early in an effort stay ahead of the weather. Herring rattled off a 73 to bring his tournament total to 147, which tied him for fifth place individually and earned the freshman All-Tournament Team honors.
Logan Pitts had a fantastic week as he took to the course as an individual. The freshman tied the low round of the day in the opening round with a 72 and backed up the play with a 74 on Sunday for a 146. Pitts' play placed him fourth individually and landed him All-Tournament Team recognition.
Co-Lin now turns their attention to the MACJC State Championship which will be held at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Raymond, Miss. on April 13 and 14.
