Wolves finish ninth in MGCCC Invitational

SAUCIER, Mississippi – The Co-Lin Wolves finished in ninth place in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Invitational held at Windance Country Club in Saucier. Seventeen schools and a total of 96 players competed in the two-day event. The field featured six states represented including NAIA, NJCAA Division I and NJCAA Division II teams. This year, the tournament moved to 54 holes on Monday, with the final round (18 holes) played on Tuesday.

Host Mississippi Gulf Coast captured first place 22 shots ahead of second place Roane State Community College (910). The MGCCC (B) team finished third (913) followed by Loyola-New Orleans (915), Central Alabama (918), Wallace State (921), Calhoun Community College (924), East Central (924), and Co-Lin (933). Other MACCC teams participating were Meridian (11th), Jones College (12th), Northeast Mississippi (13th), East Mississippi (14th), and Itawamba (18th).

Individually for Co-Lin, freshman Oscar Toreld (Binnerback, Sweeden) finished at 225 (75-76-74) good enough for a three-way tie for ninth place. Teammate Lander Guibert (San Sebastian, Spain) finished at 230 (75-84-71) followed by  was Reese McLaurin (Laurel) 236 (74-81-81),  Jamie Hernandez (Palma De Mallorca, Spain) 245 (89-73-83),  and Harlan Brewer (Wesson) 250 (81-87-82).

            The Wolves will play William Carey University on Tuesday, November 14, at Laurel Country Club.
