Oscar Toreld finishes Second; Team Fifth at District Preview
TUNICA – The Co-Lin Golf team opened the 2024-25 season and MACCC play with the NJCAA District D Preview tournament at Tunica National Golf Club on Monday, September 16, and Tuesday, September 17.
The Wolves finished in fifth place with a total score of 624 (313 on day one, 311 on day two).
"On the first day I was thinking that our scores could be slightly better than what they were but given the wind and wet conditions we did okay for our first day in our first tournament," stated Co-Lin head coach Allen Kent. "I think they got the jitters out of the way, and we lost some strokes on the greens throughout the day."
Oscar Toreld (Binnerbäck, Sweden) finished the tournament in second place overall shooting a +5 overall, while Lander Guibert (San Sebastian, Spain) finished just outside of the Top 10 in 12th with a +9 while teammate Max Seidemann (Bruchhausen-Vilsen, Germany) rebounded after a tough first round to finish tied with Guibert in 12th at +9.
"Oscar, Lander, and Max played really well for us," added Kent. "It was disappointing to have to use some higher scores for our team, but if we got those down then we will compete as a team. Overall though I'm pleased with our play on a course that played very difficult on both days with greens that were probably the fastest we will play all year."
The Co-Lin Golf team will be back in action as the hosts for the second event of MACCC play on Monday, September 30, and Tuesday, October 1, at Brookhaven Country Club.
