Wolves Drop Pair of Road Contests

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team went on the road for a pair of games this weekend in the St. Louis area. The Wolves lost both games falling to St. Charles Community College, 2-1, on Friday, September 1, and then losing 2-0 to Mineral Area College on Saturday, September 2.

The match was scoreless throughout much of the first half, but the Cougars broke through late in the first half scoring their first goal in the 38th minute making the score 1-0, which held throughout the remainder of the first half.

The Cougars then added their second goal early in the second half to extend their lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute. The lone goal for the Wolves came late in the match as Dylan Ngamaleu found the back of the net in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, the Wolves could not find a tying goal in the final minutes of the match as the Cougars kept them out of the net to hold on for the win.

Leo Summers (Cornwall, England) made five saves on seven total shots on goal throughout the match.

Mineral Area 2, Co-Lin 0

The Cardinals got on the board early in the first half taking a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 14th minute. That score remained that way throughout the remainder of the first half.

Despite multiple scoring opportunities, the Wolves could not find a tying goal throughout the match as the Cardinals added their second goal in the 81st minute and kept the Wolves scoreless to secure the 2-0 win.

Leo Summers made seven saves on nine shots on goal throughout the match.

Co-Lin is no 0-2-1 overall and will return to action with a road contest against East Central on Tuesday, September 5. The action on the pitch kicks off at 4 p.m., in Decatur.
