Hurst’s Historic Goal Propels Wolves to Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team stepped away from MACCC play to face off against Oxford College of Emory University on Saturday, October 7. Behind the fastest goal scored in a match in school history, the Wolves beat the Eagles, 3-0.

Asa Hurst (Sand Hill) set the school record beating the Eagles keeper with an assist from Alfie Lally (Manchester, England) just 15 seconds into the match giving the Wolves a 1-0 lead. The Wolves increased their lead to 2-0 as Hurst assisted Lally on a goal in the 34th minute. The 2-0 lead stood throughout the remainder of play in the first half.

The Wolves final goal came in the 62nd minute as Francisco Miquel (Bogota, Colombia) found the back of the net with an assist from Lally, his second of the match. The Wolves stalled out the Eagles offense to secure the 3-0 victory.

Brennan Thomas (Gallman) got his first start in goal of the season and saved all seven shots on goal he faced throughout the match earning a clean sheet in the win.

Co-Lin returns to action hosting Holmes on Friday, October 13. The action on the pitch between the Bulldogs and the Wolves kicks off at 3 p.m., at H.L. Stone Stadium in Wesson.
