Lally’s Hat Trick Propels Wolves to Third Straight Win

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team returned to MACCC play by hosting Northwest Mississippi on Tuesday, October 17. The Wolves used a dominant offensive first half en route to a 6-1 win over the Rangers.

The Wolves wasted little time getting their scoring started as Alfie Lally (Manchester, England) beat the Rangers keeper in the fourth minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The Wolves then extended their lead in the 11th minute as Dylan Ngamaleu (Vallorbe, Switzerland) headed the ball into the back of the net with an assist from Javion Roberts (Jackson) making the score, 2-0.

Lally then scored his second goal of the first half in the 16th minute beating the Rangers keeper in the top corner from outside the box with an assist from Caden McCullough to increase the lead to 3-0. After the Rangers had a goal disallowed due to a foul in the final minute of play, Lally, with an assist from Michael Turner (Ridgeland), then earned his hat trick for the match with his third goal of the first half making the score 4-0, with less than 30 seconds left to play.

The Rangers scored their lone goal of the match in the 65th minute of the match to cut the lead down to 4-1. However, the Wolves responded as Benji Hernandez (Richland) chipped a ball into the net past the keeper with an assist from Lally in the 79th minute. One minute later, Conner Turner (Brandon) scored his first career goal with a header on a free kick by Sebastian Narvaez (Brandon) making the score, 6-1. The Wolves then stalled out the Rangers offense for the remainder of the match to secure the victory.

Leo Summers (Cornwall, England) saved three of four shots faced on goal throughout the match.

Co-Lin improves to 4-5-5 overall and 3-3-3 in MACCC play. The Wolves will return to action hosting Pearl River on Friday, October 20. Kickoff between the Wildcats and the Wolves is set for 3 p.m., while the Wolves will honor their sophomores for Sophomore Day at halftime of the match at H.L. Stone Stadium in Wesson.
