Wolfpack tennis team falls to Hinds

WESSON – The Co-Lin's men's tennis team lost their first match of the season to the Hinds Community College Eagles 6-3. The Wolfpack (2-1) travel to East Central Thursday with matches beginning at 2 p.m.  

"It was a disappointing loss," said tennis coach Brenda Smith. "The importance of doubles was clear and the winning teams dominated doubles. I hope it serves as motivation to improve for the men."

The Wolfpack dropped all three doubles matches. At No. 1, Carlos Trujillo and Mateo Garcia of Hinds defeated Sebastian Osorio and Juan Pablo Pinilla of Co-Lin 8-3, Eric Holmes and Holmes Griffin defeated Co-Lin's Tripp Wyatt and Logan Channell 8-2 at No. 2, and Drew Rexrode and Bryce Livingston defeated Braden Ishee and Tripp Case 8-4.

In singles action, the Wolves won three of six matches. The match at No. 1 was the most Co-Lin's Osorio defeated Trujillo in a tie breaker 6-4, 6-7, and 14-12. Co-Lin's Pinilla beat Garcia 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 and Case took care of Rexrode 6-4, 6-4.

Hinds picked up singles wins at No. 3 as Holmes blanked Harrell 6-0, 6-0, Livingston took care of Wyatt at No. 4, and Galloway defeated Channell 6-3, 7-5.
